Delicious love, three years of ife collective

For love, the wolf licks its fur, smooths it down, makes it shine under the moon, which reflects the wonder of this gesture, sending it back not only to the sky but also to all beings on Earth. Cherry tree, what are your love rituals? For amber, they are eternal embraces, alliances of bodies and matter generating landscapes one can get lost in. Meanwhile, snails spread their sweet and sticky slime, tracing paths of desire capable of enchanting the eyes. And as we retrace love, we touch and taste the foods that uplift us, wishing each other well for all that has been.

Love, as a feeling of universal entanglements—free from judgment, division, and domination—is the inspiration for ife collective’s third birthday. To dream, weave narratives, and celebrate loving impulses—hybrid, promiscuous, and beyond the human—we chose to play with sweet materials of various densities and textures, inviting you to a collective sensory practice to create celebratory cakes to be shared and consumed together.

The many facets of love first delighted our sense of collaboration as we imagined cakes that could express its momentum, and then the palates eager to taste the bittersweet variety of feelings.
A dinner intimately held between words and interspecies love writings could only be the most fitting way to celebrate three years of a journey that, day after day, invites us to imagine, design, and share new approaches and processes for exploring the complexity in which we are immersed—through the languages of art, interwoven with other disciplines.
